"Believe in your strength and resilience. Believe in the power of change."

What if you were able to finally move past what’s been holding you back? What might life look like if your deepest desires and dreams became a reality?

Life can sometimes present challenges that we did not expect. Emotional pain and regrets can weigh you down, and leave you feeling defeated and drained. Negative thought patterns can have us believing we’re trapped to repeat the same mistakes, or that joy and peace of mind are out of reach.

Despite how you may feel right now, you don’t have to continue like this. You are worthy of a rich, satisfying life that’s free of fear, suffering, and self-doubt. I help clients connect with and embrace their inner truth, re-write their story, and help guide them on a path towards healing and lasting change.

You deserve the opportunity to transform your life and how you feel.

Meet Amy Schell, LMHC,

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and mood disorder specialist, who works with people in New York City and throughout New York state.

I have experience working with adults, adolescents, and families, specializing in helping people through transitions including adolescence, adulthood, parenting, career changes, mid-life, loss of a loved one, and other significant experiences.

My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic techniques, complemented by mindfulness, anxiety- and harm-reduction methods.

I create a uniquely tailored therapy experience, with emphasis on identifying and harnessing your individual strengths. Together we’ll work to help you:

  • Heal from trauma and regain a sense of security
  • Relinquish yourself from demanding standards set by yourself and others
  • Increase your comfort with flexible thinking
  • Identify and let go of self-defeating behaviors and negative thought patterns
  • Increase satisfaction and joy in your relationships

If you would like to learn more about how therapy can help you feel better and improve your relationships, don’t hesitate to book a free 30-minute consultation with me today.

Are you ready to grow and expand into the life you want?

There are so many ‘best’ parts of therapy, it is hard to pick just one. A favorite, however, is watching a client really dig deep into the work, allow themselves to be vulnerable and real and open, and transform in the process. To watch a client become who and what they wanted to be, after being fearful or doubtful of their potential, is truly unrivaled.

First I would acknowledge that it is completely normal to feel ambivalent about starting therapy for the first time. I would offer assurance that therapy provides a confidential, safe and non-judgmental space. In this space, you can talk about any issue you need or feel ready to disclose, and at the pace that feels right to you. I’d like to assure you that our time together is entirely dedicated to supporting you, however that might look.

I have always known that I wanted to become a therapist because, quite simply, I am deeply passionate about supporting others through their process of change. There is tremendous beauty and bravery involved in each individuals’ personal transformation.

I believe it is an honor to be entrusted by another person with their most private concerns and vulnerable expressions and an equal privilege, in turn, to help that person connect to their truth, and manifest it forward with meaningful and fulfilling changes within themselves. As a therapist, I am devoted to this work and I look forward to supporting you in the same way.
